OpenCut 3: REDVFX Challenge:

Using original .R3D files shot on set, compose two critical visual effects shot for pivotal scenes in "Sensored."

"Sensored" tells the story of children's book author Wade Mixon, trying to keep his frayed mind from unraveling. Wade's stability and lucidity are in question, and his thoughts are increasingly being invaded by the terror of his murderous past and present. Wade's battle with his own demons causes him to believe there is a conspiracy against him. The line between reality and delusion steadily grows more and more uncertain and the fight between good and evil in his mind is beginning to dilute any chance he has at living in the here and now. In the balance hangs Wade's only shred of existence--his legacy--and he'll stop at nothing to prove its reality.

In The Can - OpenCut Project 2: "The Alpine Meadows Shoot"

Overview of content:

Ranked as a top winter resorts by Powder Magazine, Alpine Meadows Ski Resort is situated in the picturesque Tahoe National Forest and offers skiers and snowboarders 2,400 acres of terrain. Alpine offers 14 lifts, more than 100 trails, and majestic views of Lake Tahoe.

At Alpine Meadows, there is no wine bar. There is no valet parking. Heck, resort officials spent three years vacillating over whether or not to provide guests with high speed internet access in the base lodge. "People should be out enjoying the mountain, not inside working," was the advocating holdup. And for those who are looking for a re-trained barista to whip up a frothy meal of caffeine, that can be found, well, anywhere but Alpine. So why bother? An unapologetic paradox, the answer is hardly an answer.

There is an energy at Alpine Meadows; a heartbeat. Beyond its scenic natural beauty is Alpine's mysterious "je ne sais quos" character that will forever escape spoken or written word. This mountain mezmerizes with perfect powder which lingers days after a storm; grants moments of clarity on quiet traverses through snow covered pine trees; and converts visitors to locals with seven open bowls, gentle, top-to-bottom cruisers, and forested glades. Alpine Meadows allows its visitors to feel unabashed joy harbored in every soul's inner child.

How did Alpine Meadows come to be? Alpine Meadows opened in 1961, with the notion of offering a more relaxed atmosphere and family friendly experience than its glamorous, energetic neighbor. Viewed from atop the peaks of the recent Olympic host, Squaw Valley, a group of avid outdoorsmen from San Francisco spied the beckoning valley to the south, and coveted powder turns down its spanning powder bowls and through its gracefully spaced juniper, western white pines, and aspen trees. Visions of yesteryear are realized today; and to this day, carefully tended groomed trails remain surrounded by Alpineís great amphitheater of off-piste bowls, sinewy chutes, and craggy peaks.

Great hearts beat alike. Virtually unchanged since day one, Alpine's tenured loyalists and visitors from afar have a common bond that of which is uncommonly spoken. Hosting some of North America's most renowned terrain, loyal visitors gage happiness by powder depth. The privilege of finding hidden terrain, the simple pleasure of mid-morning cocoa breaks, and the unspoken bond between other skiers and boarders make the whole of Alpine greater than the sum of its parts; and the heart of an unfiltered mountain experience beats on.

  • Deliverable is your choice of a 30-60 second commercial for Alpine Meadows, OR a concept piece of unlimited length that presents Alpine Meadows in a creative manner.
